Why We Named the Company Epoch
Names carry weight, especially when you're building something meant to outlast a single product cycle, a single market trend, or a single generation. We didn't want a name that sounded clever for six months and dated in five years. We wanted a name that meant something in two completely different worlds we operate in — and it turns out, one word already did.
In artificial intelligence, an epoch is one full pass of a model through its training data — a discrete unit of learning and refinement. In history, an epoch marks a fixed point in time defining the start of a distinctive new era. Both definitions describe exactly what we were building: a company designed to learn, refine, and endure through continuous cycles of precision.
The timing mattered too. The founding of this company coincided with the arrival of our first child, Jewel — a name that, fittingly, evokes clarity, pressure, and enduring value. Just as a gem is formed and refined over time into something permanent, Epoch was built with a generational mandate from day one.
We are not chasing the current hype cycle. We are building the infrastructure — mathematical, artificial, and architectural — for the next one.
